About my guest, Jasmine Opperman

Jasmine Opperman is a former Director of Africa Desk at Terrorism Research & Analysis Consortium (TRAC). Jasmine’s areas of expertise include methodological risk analysis and the management of intelligence processes (operations, counter intelligence, covert activities and analysis). Jasmine is qualified as a risk analyst and holds a Master’s Degree in History at the University of Johannesburg (South Africa). Her aptitude emanates from 19 years employment in formal intelligence structures, at which time she attained the position of Provincial Head Eastern Cape Province.

About the host Phil Gurski:

Phil is the President and CEO of Borealis Threat and Risk Consulting Ltd. and Programme Director for the Security, Economics and Technology (SET) hub at the University of Ottawa’s Professional Development Institute (PDI). He worked as a senior strategic analyst at CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) from 2001-2015, specializing in violent Islamist-inspired homegrown terrorism and radicalisation.
